This London outpost of Margate-based GB Pizza Co follows the winning formula, with just seven pizzas (plus a weekly special) served in a cheery down-home setting of wooden tables and metal stools. Their hot garlic bread is a must, slathered in pungent oil, while pizza bases are just the right balance of crisp and rip-apart doughy with fresh, simple toppings. The Margate-rita pays homage to GB’s beginnings, with dollops of Mozzarella melting into a rich sauce and fragrant basil leaves completing a tricolore triumph. A special of leeks, peas and roasted spring onion brightens up the veggie possibilities, while milky mountains of Gelupo gelati make the sweetest of finales. To drink, there’s Prosecco on tap, Hiver (London-brewed honey beer) and organic house wine from temperature-controlled barrels. In short, GB Pizza is the real thing – and a real bargain too.
