Described as the happiest place in town, pay a visit to the contemporary Foundry 39 in Edinburgh. As you arrive, you’re welcomed by the on-trend intentionally rusted iron panelling of the restaurant exterior. The interior follows through with a modern rustic feel of industrial finishes and exposed brickwork, making this spot a hip hangout for a younger adult audience. The playful nature of the restaurant also comes through in the minimal menu design with bold pops of colour and obscure food utensil designs alongside cheeky copy.
The food and drinks can easily fall into the Instagrammable category too, with plenty of merrymaking cocktails to choose from and burgers, pizzas and other snacks to please the eye, all served on canteen-style trays or slate tiles. Lunch is served from 12pm on weekdays and Foundry 39 stays open until late every day. Be sure to pop in from 9am on weekends for breakfast and brunch deals.
The breakfast menu is filled with great options such as the hangover pizza which is topped with cheese, bacon, egg, onion jam and enough hot sauce to knock the hangover right out of your system. Start with a snack of novel cheeseburger tacos or sesame miso wings. Then dive into a lamb and goats’ cheese burger with harissa yogurt dressing or the peri-peri king prawn pizza. Don’t forget about dessert because the chocolate doughnut mess is a decadent finish with honeycomb, chocolate sauce, ice cream and of course doughnuts. The cocktail menu is filled with both traditional and unique mashups of signature drinks, including the Chilli Margarita that has a different kind of kick. With names like the Stag Meister, One Fine Apple and Fill a Watermelon with Rum, you won’t run out of quirky choices to enjoy shaken or stirred.
You can bring the kiddies along to this original foodie spot and pick a three-course meal for them to munch on. Foundry 39’s pride is serving up the latest special offers to eager diners.
