OPENS 7 MARCH 2020
Erpingham House, the 100% plant-based and plastic-free restaurant in Norwich, is due to open a second site in Brighton. Following the same model as the original, the new restaurant will serve up crowd-pleasing vegan dishes in laidback surrounds.
The new Brighton restaurant is set to open on the former premises of The Canna Kitchen on the edge of The Lanes – an area and community that founder Loui Blake feels is ideal for Erpingham House’s ethos. The building – which is in a plum spot between the busy shopping area, the train station and the beach – has plenty of space for a cafe, restaurant, bar and roof terrace, making it the kind of place that’s sure to have a steady flow of customers from morning until night.
The new Sussex-specific menus haven’t been released yet, but according to Blake, the brand’s aim to serve delicious, healthy and sustainable food will be applied. With that in mind, dishes are likely to include some of Erpingham House’s signatures, such as protein pancakes and smashed avocado on toast for breakfast; platters and salad bowls for lunch; and hearty mains like curries and plant-based burgers for dinner. Erpingham House in Norwich also offers plenty of sweet treats for afters, plus afternoon tea, so we’re hopeful these will make the cut too.
The drinks menu at the Norwich restaurant includes smoothies, kombucha, organic softs and hot drinks, plus a handful of beers, wines and cocktails, but it is possible the list will be larger at the Brighton site on account of the new bar.
Whatever makes it on to the new menu at Erpingham House Brighton, health- and eco-conscious guests can rest assured that everything will be free from any animal products, as well as being mostly gluten-free and organic. As with any well thought-out restaurant hoping to make it in the current climate, produce is locally and responsibly sourced, and made fresh to order each day.
