I've booked E&O many times for other people as a VA so I thought it was about time I tried it out. I recommend booking at least a week in advance the restaurant does get very busy. I was welcomed by a bright smile and the friendly, efficient service lasted the whole evening. My friend and I had a lot to catch up on but the staff didn't interrupt unnecessarily. I ordered the chilli tofu and my friend had the sea bass. The portions were bigger than I expected and we could have shared sides rather than a rice each. Food is fusion Asian, delicious but probably a tad too spicey for me. There seemed to be chilli in everything including the brown fried rice. The Buddha Margaritas made up for it and soon helped sooth my taste buds. Expertly blended sharp citrus with the warmth of the tequila. Atmosphere is buzzy, dance music on in the background, close packed tables with a constant stream of diners. It wasn't too loud or busy that we couldn't have a good chat, tongues loosened by the tequila of course! Great for a date and their private room is very handy for large group or business dinners.

First time I've ever been offered the choice of round or square tables…made me feel like I was in an episode of “Playschool”. Nevertheless, early pretentiousness aside, this was a very pleasant meal and I'd happily go there again. The food, from the dim sum to the black cod, was excellent. Service was attentive and timed exactly right. Thought both the restaurant and clientele were trying a bit too hard to be trendy but maybe that's just me. Atmosphere felt slightly forced as a result, but with the right company you don't need anyone else.

I have been coming here time and time again and both the food and the service are fabulous. The atmosphere is always lively with good music in the bar – great cocktails (mojitos, lychee martinis and expresso martinis if you want to really feel the pain the next day!) and my favourite dishes are the black cod (somewhat pricey but good for sharing hence only 4/5 for value for money), duck and watermelon salad, the tofu starter, peppered tuna, chilli salt squid and the fried brown rice. I felt compelled to write this when I read some of the negative comments on this page – I have never had a bad experience in 8 years. Plus pretty good celebrity spotting if you like that kind of thing.

Lovely food and atmosphere, however, the service is rude, inefficient and down right bad. The pork belly squares are one of my favourite things in the world that being said. However, this place really has the vibe “we are a cool venue, you are lucky to have got a table” thing going on. It puts my back up. Example, I stand at the bar for a drink for ages and they keep serving others who are quite clearly locals or that they know. I point out that I have been waiting and that she is serving people ahaead of me who have just arrived, she gets shirty and starts to pour my g&t with such haste that I have no time to tell her I want tanqueray.(she doesn't ask) I tell her, she gets even more shirty and pours me another with Tanqueray with SODA WATER, and gives it to me. I take one sip, give it back (pretty irritated at this point) she sighs and shrugs (NO SORRY) and pours me my drink. I finally take my seat. In the restaurant they tell you that you have your table for a specified time (not my favourite thing, but ok) but then they will take your pudding order and return saying that you haven't got time and that they need to have the table back. This has happened to me twice and it is just sloppy. Why should I keep an eye on the time? The service should know that you need the table back and not to take a pudding order but politely remind us that we have however long left.

I once was told by my very eccentric mother in law that the worst compliment/insult she had ever been paid was that she was “nice”. That is how I feel about E&O, it is “nice”. Not great, not awful, just right down the middle. The food is not particularly inspired, and the dim sum is increibly overpriced. The one dish that I really enjoy is the salted caramel, peanut & chocolate chip mochi. Any salty and sweet dessert pulls me in.

looking for a average food experience and a service comedy all for the price of a 3 star michelin bill at a nobu wannabe? add on top a waiter who takes the piss out of you and charges more wine than you ordered and a manager willing to play the accomplice and the meal is served for you… only you will hardly like it

Having been to E&O many times over the years, what always strikes me as somewhat odd is that very little on the menu ever seems to change. The thing about E&O is that it isn't really a destination restaurant; you don't cross town for it because the food or service is amazing. It's a trendy neighbourhood joint (that used to be trendier) and has now found an even keel, serving trustafarians and tourists and shoppers alike. The menu is pan-Asian encompassing dishes from all over the far east with a dim sum and sushi section as well as a small selection of sushi, salads, bbq dishes and curries. Yes, the menu is essentially designed with size 0 locals and ‘Yummy-Mummy’ types in mind, which is ok I guess and dishes are good, but they aren't outstanding. Combinations are interesting yet some items like the dim sum, can be sloppy lacking the usual delicate preparation that you get at most Chinese restaurants. To be honest, if it is dim sum you are after, you're better off heading over to Royal China at Queensway. But if it's a general mish-mash of basically good (sort-of) Oriental dishes you are after, then you could do a lot worse than E&O. The bar is also a key feature at E&O, drawing in crowds both day and night. In fact the dining room itself has little character and can often be a tad soul-less at times. However, if you are in the area, don't be detered from stopping by, especially with a group of friends as E&O can be a great place to meet, eat and drink all under one roof in a very trendy part of town. Beware though, what tends to be trendy never comes cheap and if they don't get you on the food, they sure as hell will on the drinks!
