Found just a short drive from Port Isaac in the beautiful hamlet of Pendoggett, the Cornish Arms Inn is a 16th century coaching inn which is bursting full of charm. Serving a seasonal menu of British pub classics given a unique Cornish spin, the pub welcomes guests throughout the afternoon and evening and also has a few bedrooms for those wishing to stay. The Cornish Arms Inn welcomes guests of all ages as well as dogs, so whether you're looking for a quick afternoon drink outside or a large pub meal with the whole family, the Cornish Arms Inn has you covered.
Steeped in history, the painted exterior of the pub hasn't been changed much at all over the years in order to retain its character. Inside, things have also been kept ultra-traditional with exposed wooden beams a plenty and wood panelling on the walls; sturdy tables sit on patterned rugs and the odd print hangs on the wall. Across the street is a plush beer garden with gorgeous views of the Cornish countryside and plenty of space for al fresco dining during the summer.
The experienced chefs at the Cornish Arms Inn produce a regularly changing menu of crowd-pleasing dishes, while also showcasing the local area's fantastic produce. Starters on offer might include chicken and mushroom pate with tomato chilli jam, crab tian, or a smoked haddock and mozzarella fishcake with tartare sauce. You can expect main courses ranging from scampi and chips to a rib eye steak with peppercorn sauce, while vegan options include a mushroom, onion and beetroot burger. Leave space for desserts such as warm treacle tart with ice cream.
There's plenty to choose from at the bar too, with a decent selection of local beers available on draught and by the bottle as well as wines, spirits and soft drinks.
