This no-frills Turkish in Dalston is unassuming, but behind its frontage lies authentic, homely Turkish cuisine. The buzzy space features no-fuss décor and a semi-open kitchen, which is overseen by the Kepez family that run the site. Named after a breed of bird found in the South East region of Turkey, Cirrik is all about traditional dishes designed for sharing. Start out with a selection of hot and cold small plates including the likes of dolma – a moreish mix of rice, mint, parsley and onions wrapped in vine leaves and served on a bed of chilled yoghurt. Other hits included chunks of pull-apart Halloumi, and a steaming-hot bowl of king prawns sautéed in butter and bathed in a spicy tomato sauce. The main event sees a selection of well-cooked, charcoal-grilled kebabs, completed by rice, tomatoes, grilled peppers and plates of fresh salads. Although far from fine dining, Cirrik is a decent casual option for some tasty Turkish, with amiable service and pocket-friendly prices adding to its appeal.
