Following the success of their Leeds original, Indian street-food specialists Bundobust have ventured across The Pennines. At around 4,000 square feet, this spacious new Piccadilly branch includes canteen and booth-style seating, natural light from a huge skylight, and bespoke artwork nodding to Manchester’s industrial heritage. The informal menu of snacks and sharing plates is entirely vegetarian: the likes of spiced okra fries coated in chickpea flour and seasoned with black salt and mango powder; or bundo chaat (a compilation of flavours and textures including samosa pastry, chickpeas, tamarind chutney and turmeric noodles). Among the specials you might find the street-food classic pav bhaji, a robust veg curry brimming with the flavours of fenugreek, garam masala and chilli. The drinks list is designed with food in mind, with 14 keg beers appearing alongside two specially designated cask lines showcasing local brewers. In all, this Yorkshire newcomer is most welcome in Manchester.
