For the latest manifestation of its restaurant, the swish Baglioni hotel is introducing to the UK a well-established brand from Italy. Brunello is a beautifully appointed spot, both the dining room and bar a plush procession of black, gold and brown surfaces. Go à la carte for Italian classics peppered with palate-teasing touches such as saffron-infused risotto, or strips of fresh tuna coated in sesame seeds and served with shredded carrot and ricotta. Chef Alberto Rossetti gears his menu to a health-conscious crowd (witness the rich, creamy bendolce dessert that surprisingly only contains two apples-worth of calories), but bon vivants will relish exploring the Italian wine list or the range of afternoon teas. With its glowing underlit counter, the large central bar means that Brunello also works as a glam spot for proper Italian Spritzes. In all, this opulently attired Kensington venue offers a classy package for special occasions.
