Don't think the suggestive text is working on this extra restaurant.. Still got it as a restaurant that reliably delivers classic modern brasserie food at good prices - with well-selected wines at low mark-ups. Perhaps no longer the ecstatic reception from locals but still the quintessential neighbourhood restaurant.
Fabulous neighbourhood restaurant with interesting food, a great wine list, friendly staff and a nice atmossphere.

A really brilliant local restaurant. The food is outstanding – I tried a selection of starters which were all so fresh and delicious. The risotto, which in so many restaurants can be disappointing, was bursting with flavour – obviously a great stock is used and the tiny vegetables were perfectly al dente, as was the rice. My prawns wrapped in pancetta which I had spotted being prepared in the open plan kitchen, were amazing. The service and the atmosphere was really good, and although I didn't have any wine (must be a first) the list is fantastic and extremely reasonable. A visit to Brinkley's Kitchen is essential – forget Chez Bruce, you'll eat just as well here.

I highly recommend Brinkleys Kitchen for lunch and went there last Friday with two friends. We had 5 starters between the three of us, which were all delicious especially the ravioli. The service was really good, attentive and polite and it was a great experience all round.

Locals love this easy-going diner which serves fresh uncomplicated food to a good standard with well chosen, mainly classic wines at low margins. Food won’t blow the mind but most patrons are there for the occasion and the banter rather than some gastronomic pilgrimage. So, for us, it was squid served with peppery rocket and a tricolere salad that was a study in milky freshness – both to a good standard. For mains seabass hit the right note too, as did a steak served precisely as ordered – all washed down with good value 2005 Premier Cru Chablis and a minty, nicely structured Cabernet from the Great Southern in Western Australia. For locals the walk home adds to the whole appeal. Nice private room at the back.

We had Sunday lunch here recently. The service was fine and the atmosphere was friendly although the music was slightly loud and unnecessarily brash. The meat (beef in this case) was beautifully tasty and lean (but not too much so). The vegetables were perfect and the yorkshire pudding was adequate. The wine was good value also. The greatest disappointment, as is the case in so many places, was the unimaginative dessert menu – I chose the creme brulee which was as bland as the menu. Overall, we enjoyed it and would recommend it to most.
