The most amazing, succulent, fatty, chin-dribbling, roast pork with crispy crackling sandwich you are ever likely to eat is to be found at Bread & Meat. This already-popular spot is the latest Soho-style café/restaurant to open its doors on Cambridge town centre’s thriving foodie street. The menu may offer precious few alternatives (there’s a beef, chicken or veggie version if you must), but what the kitchen does it does well – and the food is fairly priced to boot. Order a meat-laden ciabatta sarnie plus side dishes of fries and slaw, rounded off with a craft beer, and you’ll be pleasantly full for about £16. Large picture windows and the casual vibe could entice you to stay, but with only five or six tables in this tiny minimalist establishment other patrons might ward you off. Beware: the place closes at 9pm, so get here pre-pub.
