Right next door to the train station, and with lots of comfy seating and quirky décor, you can enjoy a taste of modern English cuisine at Bill’s restaurant. The all-day dining menu means you can visit for any meal and have a plethora of options to choose from. So whether you visit for breakfast or dinner, there is bound to be something that will impress.

On the main dinner menu, expect to find dishes such as the crab and courgette risotto in a tomato stock; classic macaroni cheese; and the carrot, cashew nut and mushroom wellington – perfect for vegans and a very different take on the usual wellington recipe. It also has a selection of burgers and steaks for when you want to keep things simple. Go for the buttermilk chicken, halloumi or classic burger depending on how you feel that day or pick from a range of steak cuts with pea shoots and fries.

Make sure to order something from the dessert menu to round off your meal. Pick from a melting banoffee sundae, apple and salted caramel crumble and the show-stopping chocolate and hazelnut praline sphere with salted caramel ice cream.

If you aren’t visiting for dinner, the lunch menu features all the good bits from the main menu alongside extras. Try the fish finger sandwich, great for when you’re feeling a little nostalgic. Although, this is definitely an adult version with its prawns and avocado on sourdough, it’s a far cry from the ones you had after school for dinner.

It is also worth giving the Bill’s teatime a try. With a selection of cakes such as carrot, toasted tea cake and a triple chocolate brownie slice to accompany a wide selection of hot drinks. You can also order a cream tea, but the question is, do you put jam or cream first?
