The 15 top places for Michelin starred food delivery in London

Many of London’s Michelin starred restaurants are now offering a delivery service to help those self-isolating or social distancing receive top quality food without having to leave their homes.

During a time when restaurants have been forced to close their eat-in offering, many are diversifying in a bid to generate revenue without the usual footfall of customers meeting at their venues. This shift, restaurants hope, will help support their staff and suppliers to maintain income at a difficult time. Lots of the capital’s top eateries are now offering both take away and delivery options. Because of the sudden nature of the business change some restaurants are on wider food delivery apps – like Deliveroo, who now offer a non-contact option for food orders – but some require you to book directly with the restaurant, either by calling or contacting them online through email, websites or Instagram.

Despite Michelin starred food delivery being a fairly new concept for many, there is an existing company which specialises in high-end takeaway. Supper is the world’s first Michelin delivery service and finds its home in London. Having launched in 2015 its business model sees drivers pick up food from high-end eateries in the capital – specifically those with a Michelin star – and deliver them to businesses and homes across London. Not only can you order just for yourself, but if using the Supper app you can order for up to 30 people, which while perhaps not ideal now, could be a good excuse for a party in a post-Covid-19 world.

Eating Michelin starred food from the comfort of your own couch might sound too good to be true, but there are plenty of options out there to help you feed your high-end-eating habit. Below are a selection of places where you can order Michelin starred food from top kitchens straight to your door. Some of the places below will even send you sommelier-matched wines too, for when you want to add to your indulgence.

Sketch

With no fewer than three Michelin stars, The Gallery at Sketch is about as luxe as it comes for takeaway. The team here has designed a four-course menu which changes with the season to make the very best from the ingredients of the moment. Reheating and plating is required, so this isn’t a quick hunger fix, but for a special occasion it’s a real show stopper. You can collect from the restaurant or have your meal delivered, and there are wine pairings you can add too, if you want to get really fancy.

Core by Clare Smyth

Michelin starred chef Clare Smyth famously ran Restaurant Gordon Ramsay as its head chef, holding the title of the first and only female to run a three Michelin starred kitchen in the UK, before settling on her own venture, Core by Clare Smyth. The chef has admitted on social media that she never thought she would be doing the dine at home experience, but that during the pandemic her and her team wanted to bring a slice of their hospitality to our own homes. With this Michelin starred menu you can expect impeccably presented plates of brilliant flavour combinations. At £175 per person, this isn’t a cheap experience but one to be savoured for a special occasion. You’ll kick things off with Champagne – naturally – before moving on to caviar gougere or smoked chicken wings with honey, beer and thyme. Elsewhere there’s Cornish cod with Morecambe Bay shrimp, Swiss chard and brown butter and a deliciously simple sounding custard tart. Optional wine pairings can be accommodated, as well as additional courses. Delivery is available within London or for collection from Core. The team hope to roll our national delivery soon – so do check in with them if that might be of interest to you.

For the first time ever Heston Blumenthal’s Michelin starred restaurant, Dinner by Heston, is offering takeaway. There are three set menus, each inspired by a different historical era in Britain’s culinary past. The Vivendier menu – which takes elements from 1430 recipes – includes the famous Meat Fruit, which is a carefully designed chicken liver pate crafted to look like a mandarin. Each of the three menu selections include four courses of Heston’s playful, intriguing food and there’s a robust wine selection plus sides to pick from too. Aquavit London Takeaway menu

Aquavit in Piccadilly serves Nordic cuisine, which has previously only been available in the restaurant’s chic surrounds. Lately, though, the team has opened up its offering to include home delivery. Dishes span proper Swedish meatballs with mash and all the trimmings, soft bao filled with langoustine and pickles and a whole range of smorgasbord, perfect for a sharing-style feast. Puddings like princess cakes and strawberry pavlovas finish tings off nicely, while a generous drinks list is also available to order from should you be looking to impress a special someone (or just treating yourself the way you deserve). While it no longer holds a Michelin star, it did up until recently and we think this fine-dining spot still deserves a spot on the list. For an added bonus, in case you need persuading, all packaging is compostable.

Initially this saw staff from the Michelin starred restaurant deliver dishes and plate them in customers' homes, which sadly will now not be an option. Happily though, you’ll still be able to receive the dishes to serve up yourself if you live within a 10-15 minute drive of Kai (and they recommend you get your plates warmed before your food arrives, this isn’t your usual chow mein, guys). In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, chef Tomos Parry and his team have opened a Farm, Grill and Wine shop. Here you’ll be able to buy a selection of the chefs’ signature dishes to go, as well as it being possible to pick up high end produce the kitchen would usually use for lunch and dinner service. Motu Indian Kitchen on Deliveroo

While not a Michelin starred restaurant exactly, Motu does come from the same team who are behind the much-lauded Gymkhana – a Michelin starred Indian in Mayfair. The takeaway brand’s rich dishes feature things like a butter paneer, a fragrant chicken biryani and an expertly spiced dhal. Motu is one of Deliveroo’s Edition Kitchens, meaning they do delivery only and you can’t eat in.
