Baharat restaurant, located in South Woodford, prides itself on being one of the first restaurants to bring Indo-Mediterranean cuisine to London. The name, Baharat, is the Arabic name for a spice
mix used throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa; the cuisine draws mainly on Indian and also Moroccan and Turkish influences, and the menu is split into two sections
accordingly. Baharat's menu caters for every taste – the first section is full of popular Indian favourites, including puri, masala and jalfrezi dishes, and the second half features mezze, kebabs
and tagines. As well as the emphasis on flavour, the team at Baharat pride themselves on using fresh, locally sourced produc. The décor of the restaurant, too, is a blend of Middle Eastern and
Mediterranean themes; earthy colours and antique-look mirrors and light fittings give the place an exotic feel. This, combined with warm and friendly service makes for a relaxing dining experience.
