community-pub credentials reinforced by hand-pumped ales, a warming winter fire, painted retro-textured wallpaper, old floorboards, scrubbed-wood tables & seating to match. The separate dining
room has a smarter look, though it’s suitably unstuffy. The kitchen utilises carefully sourced Sussex produce (meat is from Goodwood Estate, & local seafood is a speciality), & the menu
offers everything from trencherman classics such as ploughman’s or dressed Selsey crab salad to sea bass fillet with fennel risotto or organic sirloin steak, conventionally teamed with chips &
béarnaise. Wines come by glass, jug or bottle, while a two-acre garden offers fair-weather cheer.
