You can buy a Restaurant Gift Voucher which allows the recipient to choose which of these participating restaurants they wish to dine at.

Smart Voucher FAQs

Q. I've been gifted a smart voucher, but I don't see it in my account?

A. If you've been gifted a smart voucher you should have received this via email. You need to ensure you use this same email address to create your SquareMeal account.

If you already had a SquareMeal account using a different email address, please contact us so we can transfer the voucher to right account.

Q. Can I use my Restaurant Gift Voucher at any restaurant included on the SquareMeal website?

A. No, you will need to book a restaurant that is opted into our gift voucher scheme. If you have a gift voucher bought from SquareMeal, you can use it at any of our participating restaurants. Alternatively, search the location where you want to eat in the search bar and tick "Smart voucher restaurants" in the filters (near the top).

Q. Do I need to tell the restaurant I’m using my SquareMeal Smart Voucher?

A. No, the restaurant doesn’t need to know as we take care of everything. In fact, many restaurants won’t even brief their staff on our vouchers because there is nothing for them to do. The gift voucher will redeem seamlessly when you pay the bill in the normal way.

Q. How does it work?

A. When you pay the bill, the transaction is picked up by the SquareMeal system using card-linking technology. Visa, Mastercard and AMEX match the customer's transaction with the restaurant’s Merchant ID. This triggers an email or notification asking the voucher holder to confirm the cashing of your voucher. The voucher’s value will then be credited instantly to the account of your choice (via a secure REVOLUT link).

Q. After I dined I didn't receive an email or notification about my voucher?

A. First of all, you'll need to ensure that you paid with a payment card linked to your SquareMeal account. The payment card needs linking before you pay so the system can match the transaction at our participating restaurants.

Then you'll need to make sure you dined at a participating restaurant.

If both of those common issues are OK then, please contact us letting us know the restaurant you dined in, and your email address used for your account and we'll look into it.

Q. I don’t want vouchers credited to my business credit card linked to my SquareMeal account.

A. You can turn on/off voucher redemption to each card you have linked straight from your SquareMeal account. Just edit the card and turn off ‘use for voucher redemption’.

Q. What if I don’t spend more than the voucher amount, can I just use some of the voucher?

A. No, the amount you spend must be equal to or more than the voucher value. If your spend is lower than the voucher value we will wait for your next meal out.

Q. I have multiple vouchers, can I choose which one to use?

A. We will always use the oldest voucher that’s value is less than what you spent.

Q. How will the credit look on my card statement?

A. The credit will show as from ‘SquareMeal’, not the restaurant you dined at.
