Finding its home in Manchester’s city center, Wood is the original site from chef Simon Wood’s restaurant group, which has since expanded to include another Wood location in Chester and spin-off Woodkraft in Cheltenham.
Wood Manchester offers up three distinct private dining opportunities and is able to host a variety of events, including celebration dinners and corporate functions. For an intimate experience, try the Chef’s Table, which is located directly in front of the restaurant’s open kitchen. Here, you and your guests will be able to watch Simon and his team create a seven-course tasting menu right in front of your very eyes, while you might even be able to get him to offer up some recipe tips and insider secrets!
Guests dining at the Chef’s Table will be greeted with a glass of Champagne on arrival and this experience is exclusively available on Fridays and Saturdays, so it’s a great shout for weekend entertaining and personal celebrations.
Wood Manchester’s menu is a simple, yet sophisticated affair, with each dish featuring one key component. Starters include the likes of wild mushroom ravioli and 82 degree pork belly with apple sauce and cider, while mains see pan-roasted monkfish served with black trumpette ragu, yellow chanterelle and samphire or perhaps a tomahawk steak to share between two. To round off your meal, you can enjoy tempting puddings such as white chocolate crumble with toffee and honeycrisp apple, or black forest gateau.
The second private dining option at Wood Manchester is the dedicated Private Dining Room, which is located on the mezzanine level and overlooks the main dining room. Guests can enjoy pre-dinner drinks in the private gallery before moving through to the dining room. You’ll also benefit from a personal host who will guide your through the seven-course tasting menu, as well as overseeing the drinks offering which includes a range of by-the-glass wines and signature cocktails.
For business meetings meanwhile, head to The Woodwork room, which can accommodate up to 22 guests in a boardroom style format. The team can provide refreshments and drinks, while a two-course lunch from the team is included as part of the restaurant’s daily hire rates.
