Separate from the main dining room, this beautiful, oak-panelled room is perfectly suited to private celebratory lunches and dinners, from birthdays to christenings and everything in between, thanks to its elegant simplicity and seclusion from the rest of the pub.
The Greene Oak’s aptly-named Oak Room can accommodate up to 26 for a sit-down meal or 50 for a standing drinks party. The room is simply decorated with wooden panels and flooring, a white ceiling and mirror panels, allowing guests to put their own stamp on it in terms of flowers or balloons. Summer receptions might see your guests gathering on the patio, accessed through the Oak Room’s French doors, with a glass of Pimm’s in hand, while private gatherings in the colder months might entail glasses of rich, red wine enjoyed in the warmth of the convivial space.
Seated meals for private parties are something the team at The Greene Oak do extremely well, thanks to menus overseen by head chef Jamie Dobbin (formerly of The Connaught, The Savoy and The Ivy). Having spent years working in fine dining restaurants in the capital, Dobbin is passionate about creating superb menus minus the pomp, meaning you’ll find dishes such as truffled chicken croquettes, smoked Hampshire trout with nasturtium, wild garlic aioli and rye crumb, and roast Cotswold chicken with potato dumplings, beans and peas on his seasonal menu.
The pub also prides itself on offering a diverse selection of wines, beers, cask ales, ciders and softs, so your guests will be kept topped up throughout your private event. There’s no hire charge for the private room, just achievable minimum spends that vary according to the date of your event.
