Situated on the first floor of the North Wing, The Great Hall is St Bartholomew’s Hospital’s main event space. Built in the 1700s, the venue’s original purpose was as a grand location for meetings and banquets, and the Great Hall continues to host weddings, conferences and dinners today. The hall’s charm lies in its artistic history; access to the venue is via the imposing Grand Staircase, complete with painted scenes by William Hogarth. Meanwhile, up to 190 guests can dine beneath the hall’s ornate ceiling – the only known English work of French craftsman Jean Baptiste St Michele – and up to 300 standing guests can mingle below portraits of St Bartholomew, Henry VIII and Edward VII.
