About The Clissold Arms

The Clissold Arms is much-loved local pub with a fascinating history and a relax and intimate atmosphere. It's known worldwide as the home of legendary English rock band The Kinks, having hosted their very first gig. The Clissold Arms welcomes its loyal clientele since 1957, in the heart of Muswell Hill. Our delightful food can be enjoyed in any of our five unique spaces within the pub: the famous Kinks, our spacious Main Restaurant & Bar area, elegant Terrace and Shed, as well as in our perfect al fresco escape, the Garden. The Clissold Arms is a well-loved and popular destination for diners and drinkers and can be hired for private events, unique weddings and any gathering requiring ample space, delightful food and a selection of fresh drinks. Providing you with a delectable and memorable experience here is what we strive for.

We have a wonderfully loyal clientele and we are pleased to reward them with delicious menus designed around our “Food Comes First” philosophy. We have daily specials and a A La Carte menu offering a choice of starters, main courses and desserts carefully put together. Our selection choice of beers ciders and wines change regularly to compliment the menu and the season. All can be enjoyed in the vibe of our bar area where you instantly feel at home or in the large secluded garden for the perfect al fresco escape. Our Sunday lunches are legendary known in the local area for being the real deal and booking is highly recommended. The Clissold is a destination in many ways, not least for its ambience. With five distinct areas, including the Kinks’ Lounge, it’s a great place for a celebration that can be scaled up or down depending on your needs.

This room has a famous history, being the place where The Kinks held their first ever public performance. The walls are covered in Kinks memorabilia which makes it a warm, inviting and exciting space to hold an event. It is a perfect room for a party.

It has a seated capacity of 40 people and a capacity of 65 people standing. It is licensed for music, be that a DJ, band or a playlist of your own making plugged into our PA system. It has no direct access to our Patio Garden but does have its own outside area that guests can use. There is also a TV in the room which you can play a slideshow of photographs on through a USB stick should you wish to.

This room is an elegant space decorated in neutral tones and has a seated capacity of 40 people and a capacity of 65 people standing. It is not licensed for loud music but you can play background or atmospheric music through the PA system in there if you wish.

It has direct access to our beautiful Patio Garden, where we can also reserve you an area so that your guests can enjoy both an indoor and outdoor space during your event. There is a TV in the room which you can play a slideshow of photographs on through a USB stick as well.

This room is also connected to another private room, The Shed, and both can be hired together should your numbers require more space.

The Shed is our private dining room. It is a lovely, intimate space with a seated capacity of 18 people or a capacity of 30 people standing. It also has direct access onto our Patio Garden, where we can reserve you an area so that your guests can move between both indoor and outdoor spaces throughout your event.

This room is connected to The Terrace and can be hired together with that room should your numbers require the extra space.

All our rooms have their own private entrances.

Our Patio Garden was recently redecorated and has a seated capacity of 130 people. This is the perfect place to enjoy your event while being outside. The Garden has an undercover and sofa area with TVs as well as an outside bar for Shisha.

The place is lovely because of the fairy lights from all around the garden that turn everything into a intimate space for everyone to enjoy their time with us.
